I've been neglectful in posts specifically dedicated to delicious things I've eaten. Here's a wrap up of the photos from the last few weeks I've just pulled from my phone.
I've never had Pad Thai that came wrapped in an egg omelette before, but this one did, and was pretty spectacular. Also pictured is the delightfully refreshing Homemade Ginger Ale with Lemongrass Cafe Siam |
Shish Tawouk with couscous and roasted veggies from a cafe just down the road from the apartment. The Hibiscus tea (with simple syrup to sweeten) here is great, and the food is a nice change of pace from a lot of the other ethnic places around. Habibi Cafe |
One evening, I was really craving western style food, so I walked up into SOHO and stopped at the Yorkshire Pudding, a British-style pub, complete with Tube reminiscent iconography and signage. The fish and chips was good, if a bit greasier than I typically like. The mint peas, however, were some of the best I've had. Yorkshire Pudding |
One of my top restaurants so far in Hong Kong, Motorino makes some of the best Italian-style pizza (super thin crust, cooked fast so it's charred but chewy) I've had outside of Italy. I would pretty much go to this place any night. The Margherita with buffalo mozzerella knocks my socks off. Motorino Pizza |
Scrumptious Lamb chops during a team lunch out for Terry, the head of Marketing for the Hong Kong office, on his birthday. JAR Just-a-Restaurant |
Fish Ball with Sliced Fish Cake and vermicelli in soup? It's a local favorite at a highly rated restaurant in Central. The fish balls were strange - of a consistency with hot dogs, but fish flavored - but overall, it was good. I'm glad I tried it, but probably not ever again. Not pictured is their Milk Tea, a Hong Kong signature drink, made of black tea sweetened with sweetened-condensed milk. Tsui Wah Restaurant |
Full English breakfast from the Peak Cafe in Soho. Perfect Saturday morning indulgence, especially when paired with a Bellini or Bloody Mary. Peak Cafe Bar |
Delicious spicy Sichuan tan tan (aka dan dan) noodles at The Manchurian Candidate, a private kitchen in Lan Kwai Fong. This place came highly recommended by a colleague in Charlottesville, and did not disappoint. Spicy and flavorful. The restaurant was packed, which is definitely a good sign, and was located in the "Winner Building", which is definitely appropriate. The Manchurian Candidate |
